At just 21, Guillermo Milord had a life-changing realization: even his well-educated parents were unaware of basic financial concepts like the Rule of 72. That eye-opening moment sparked a mission that now reaches families across the country—especially Hispanic families—with a message of financial empowerment through education.
Recently, Guillermo took that message to Comercio TV, the first Spanish-language financial news channel in the U.S., headquartered in Miami, Florida. During a powerful interview on their flagship program El Campanazo, Guillermo spoke—in Spanish—about the launch of the Financial Literacy Quiz (FLQ) and the movement to replace sales with service.

Growing up in Cincinnati as the son of Panamanian immigrants, Guillermo was taught to work hard—but not how to make money work for him. Everything changed on January 20, 2000, when he first learned about compound interest through the Rule of 72. That discovery led him into financial education, where he’s now spent over two decades helping others understand the principles that changed his life.
On El Campanazo, Guillermo introduced viewers to the Financial Literacy Quiz—a 25-question self-assessment designed to help people measure what they know (and don’t know) about money. Covering topics like inflation, long-term care, compound interest, and retirement planning, the FLQ is more than a quiz—it’s a mirror that reflects America’s financial reality.
“Our industry has spent decades selling,” Guillermo shared. “We wanted to lead with education instead. When people learn first, they make better decisions—and they trust you more.”
Guillermo shared that 85% of his current clients were previously working with other financial professionals. They chose to work with his team not because of a product, but because someone finally took the time to educate them.
He put it plainly:
“Don’t be a go-getter. Be a go-giver.”
That servant-leadership mindset—modeled by his mentors Tom Mathews and Bill Mitchell—is now the foundation of how Guillermo and his team operate. They focus on equipping families with the clarity and confidence to shape their own financial futures.

Guillermo’s appearance on Comercio TV wasn’t just about visibility—it was a rallying cry to WealthWave leaders across the country.
“We’re not just serving millionaires,” he said. “We’re serving people like my parents—hardworking, overlooked, and in need of guidance.”
The FLQ gives us all a tool to connect with clients on a deeper level, to build trust through education, and to reach entire communities that have long been underserved.

---------------------

“No solo servimos a millonarios,” dijo.
